Alexander BELYAEV (1884 - 1942)- the Soviet Jules Verne
One of the founders of Soviet SF. His works were based upon scintific facts and upon extrapolation of its possibilities.Belyaev's works contained enough science. He wished that all scientific achievements would be submitted to the interests of the people. He showed interest in all that was to subjugate Nature, though it was a man-made rain or suburbs, or using wind energy, the extraction of water in a desert , or problems of peat-cutting. Some of Belyaev's works are dedicated to the problems of conquering the depths of ocean.
There were two films based on the plots of his 2 novels: THE HEAD OF THE PROFESSOR DOYLE and HUMAN AMPHIBIAN.
